American jobs are undergoing massive technological transformation, with even entry-level workers now expected to use all manner of digital devices and equipment. The retail, wholesale, and auto repair sectors are no exception. 14 percent of currently employed US retail, wholesale, and auto repair workers have no digital skills, and an additional 23 percent have very limited skills.
Congress can take action by investing in upskilling for individual workers and jobseekers, and supporting industry-led training partnerships.
