In his previous role as the Workforce Development Coordinator for Georgia Power, Jamal lead a team dedicated to strengthening Georgia’s talent pipeline for the energy sector and other key industries. By leveraging workforce data at both the company and state levels, his team assessed industry needs and developed targeted programs to support long-term workforce sustainability.
Through strategic partnerships with educational institutions, workforce development organizations, industry associations, and government agencies, Jamal works to maximize funding opportunities and expand access to educational and training resources for talent development and educational opportunities associated with talent development.
Previously, as a Talent Acquisition Consultant for Southern Company, Jamal spearheaded military hiring strategies, employer branding, and outreach initiatives in support of Georgia Power, Gulf Power, and Southern Gas. His leadership played a pivotal role in Southern Company being recognized as the #2 Overall Best Company for Veterans by two separate publications in 2019.
Jamal’s career with Georgia Power began in 2015 as a Recruiting Consultant supporting Customer Service & Operations (CSO). Prior to transitioning to the energy sector, he served 20 years in the United States Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 2014. During his naval career, he managed large-scale projects aboard multiple U.S. Navy warships and completed four deployments to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
A native of New Orleans, Jamal holds a Bachelor of Science in Operations Management from Southwestern College and a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University.
Jamal is an active leader in workforce development, serving on the Executive Committee for Business Leaders United (BLU). He also holds board positions with the Atlanta Regional Commission Workforce Development, Science ATL, Construction Ready, and the Douglasville Travel & Tourism Board.
