Carlos Diaz Barriga brings over a decade of experience in strategic communications, storytelling, and narrative change to his role as the Managing Director of Communications and Narrative Change at National Skills Coalition (NSC). In his role, Carlos leads the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies that amplify NSC and its partners’ impact and drive meaningful change.
Before joining NSC in 2024, Carlos held various leadership positions where he honed his expertise in shaping narratives and mobilizing stakeholders around critical issues. He served as the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Scratch Foundation, overseeing the global brand activities of Scratch–the world’s largest coding platform for kids–and communications of the foundation’s programmatic work. Before joining Scratch , Carlos served as a Director in the Strategy team at Hattaway Communications, where he led narrative research, messaging development projects, and communications strategy sessions for nonprofits, foundations, and advocacy groups, including Code for America, Credential Engine, UnidosUS, and The Rockefeller Foundation. He also worked as an Associate for Burson Cohn & Wolfe in Mexico City for several years, where he executed public relations campaigns and events for corporate and financial clients, including Diageo and PageGroup.
Carlos holds a Bachelor of Arts in marketing from the Tec de Monterrey (ITESM) in Mexico and a Master of Arts in international media from American University in Washington D.C.
