Shaheen, Cochran introduce OJT Act.

July 03, 2013

On June 27, Senators Shaheen (D-NH) and Cochran (R-MS) introduced the On-the-Job Training Act of 2013, legislation to develop and expand on-the-job (OJT) training programs. National Skills Coalition recently wrote to Senators Shaheen and Cochran expressing support for the bill.

The On-the-Job Training Act would authorize a competitive grant program through the Department of Labor to establish or support existing OJT programs. States, local workforce investment boards, and federally-recognized tribal organizations would be eligible for funds to support existing OJT programs. Ten percent of awards would be available to grantees to develop new OJT programs.

Senators Shaheen and Cochran previously introduced similar legislation in the 112th Congress.
