What do we know about workers’ digital skill needs & how to support them?
Digital skills are in-demand for jobs across industries. Home health aides need to enter patient information via iPads; retail store workers are using price-change and inventory-control apps; construction workers have to submit work-order changes using mobile apps for blueprint technology; and truck drivers don’t get paid if they can’t navigate their online payroll system correctly. But not all workers are confident in their digital skills — even if they work in jobs that require them. What does the data tell us about workers’ digital skill needs? Get an overview of key data from the national OECD Survey of Adult Skills (PIAAC) and find out how one Illinois organization is responding to digital skill needs among workforce system staff, jobseekers, and adult learners alike.
