Summit Sequels: Advancing Equity and Job Quality through Industry Partnerships

June 29, 2022

Developing industry partnerships that promote equity, quality jobs, and economic mobility is the recipe for success. Workforce partnerships can help employers explore hiring and retention challenges, understand workplace culture, diversify talent pools, and ensure there are community-based pathways to employment and careers in their company and industry sector. This summit sequel will explore innovative models and changes in policies, partnerships, and practices that advance racial equity and inclusion and disrupt occupational segregation in lower wage jobs. Panelists will discuss what’s needed to ensure these partnerships have the resources and tools required for sustained business leadership and engagement; strong relationships in marginalized communities; and investments in skills-based training, hiring, and career advancement.

Moderated by:
Jeannine LaPrad, Managing Director, Policy and Research, National Skills Coalition

Michele Chang, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy, Economic Development Administration, Department of Commerce

Followed by a discussion with:
-Rebecca Kusner, Director, Ohio Workforce Coalition
-Adrian Esquivel, Deputy Director, Chicagoland Workforce Funder Alliance
-Angela Carr Klitzsch, President & CEO, EmployIndy
-Dr. Ana Luz Gonzalez-Vasquez, Project Manager, UCLA Labor Center
