NSC’s Director of Government Affairs Katie Spiker was quoted in Politico Pro in regard to Senate Democrats wanting to reduce President Biden’s plan to invest $100 billion in job training by almost two-thirds.
Spiker comments, “Often policymakers don’t realize that job creation packages don’t by default include investments in people getting the skills to fill those jobs. We know right now that there is a complete mismatch between where people’s skills are and the roles and skills for which businesses are hiring.”
Labor secretary Marty Walsh plans to meet with National Skills Coalition to discuss funding levels in the following week.
