National Skills Coalition Board Announces New Interim CEO

April 30, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC –  The following is a statement from National Skills Coalition Board Chair Girard Melancon and Vice Chair Daniel Bustillo:

“The National Skills Coalition Board has appointed Chief Strategy Officer Brooke DeRenzis to serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Robert Espinoza, who served as CEO for the last year, resigned today to pursue opportunities that reflect his lifelong commitment to building a more just and caring society.”

“Brooke’s leadership will provide continuity and clear direction for National Skills Coalition. A national expert in inclusive workforce policy, Brooke has over twenty years of experience in the field and an eleven-year tenure with National Skills Coalition. For the last four years Brooke has served as National Skills Coalition’s Chief Strategy Officer, leading the development and implementation of the organization’s policy, advocacy, and coalition organizing strategy, as well as its strategy to engage students, workers, and businesses.”

“NSC remains steadfast in its mission, fighting for a national commitment to inclusive, high-quality skills training so that more people have access to a better life, and more local businesses see sustained growth. As a policy organization grounded in a diverse national network, NSC will continue to hold fast in its commitment to work with both sides of the aisle in pursuit of policy changes that benefit workers, local businesses, and build a strong and inclusive economy.”

“Robert shared: ‘I am deeply proud of what we accomplished together in my tenure at National Skills Coalition — strengthening workforce policies, advancing equitable career pathways, and standing up for workers and families. I am profoundly grateful to the exceptional staff and partners who brought passion, expertise, and commitment to this work every day. Together, we made a lasting difference, and I am honored to have been part of this extraordinary community.’”

“On behalf of the NSC Board of Directors, we want to thank Robert for his leadership and dedication to strengthening workforce policies and his commitment to ensuring economic security for all people.”

“The NSC Board extends its gratitude to Robert for his leadership over the last year. We wish him all the best in his future pursuits and will announce plans for establishing a permanent CEO in the weeks ahead.”
