The care workforce includes more than six million people — from early childhood educators to home health aides — who provide essential support that enables others to work and train.
In Early 2025, NSC announced the launch of the Care Workforce Advisory Council and released a brief on care workers to address the urgent challenges facing the care workforce as demand for long-term care and childcare services continues to grow nationally. The Council – comprised of 20 industry-leading professionals and experts in direct care, early childhood care and education, and workforce development – met to identify key opportunities to improve skills training, career pathways, and other workforce development supports that improve jobs for care workers.
Making Care Jobs Good Jobs is the culmination of the Care Workforce Advisory Council and includes learnings and ideas for how both government and industry leaders could support this workforce:
