National Skills Coalition appointed Sue Smith, vice president for the technology and applied sciences division and corporate executive for advanced manufacturing at Ivy Tech, to serve on a national infrastructure panel that will advise the Biden administration on its “Build Back Better” initiative.
NSC CEO Andy Van Kleunen said that the goal of the panel is to make sure that the administration’s recovery plans include marginalized workers such as women and people of color, who have been impacted the most by the pandemic. “We know that skills training alone will not ensure an inclusive recovery, but we also know that it must be part of our nation’s federal policy response,” he said. “If we want those policies to succeed, industry leaders must help shape them.”
