NSC Director of Government Affairs Katie Spiker was quoted in a recent POLITICO article about the lessons learned from the 2009 Recovery Act.
A report by Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce shows that nearly all the jobs created after the Recovery Act required postsecondary education or training. The challenge, however, is delivering that training to workers. Spiker told POLITICO that public investments should go directly to community and technical colleges to help train workers.
It’s not enough to invest in job creation. We need to also invest in job training so that workers can fill those jobs.
