2017 Federal Policy Update

By Katie Spiker, Katie Brown, Kermit Kaleba, December 14, 2017
A year ago this month, National Skills Coalition released Skills for Good Jobs: An Agenda for the Next President. Despite a challenging political climate, we’ve worked with our state and local partners to build bipartisan support for federal policies that can expand access to skills and credentials for U.S. workers and businesses.

Join NSC’s federal policy staff on Thursday, December 14th for our year-end wrap up on what’s been happening on Capitol Hill and with the Trump Administration, including updates on the Fiscal Year 2018 budget process, apprenticeship expansion, reauthorization of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act and Higher Education Act, and next steps on SNAP and other public assistance programs. We’ll also talk about how we can continue to work with policymakers in Washington to strengthen federal investments in workforce, education, and human services programs to ensure that all workers and industries can take advantage of emerging economic opportunities.

Speakers:

Kermit Kaleba, Federal Policy Director
Katie Brown, Senior Federal Policy Analyst
Katie Spiker, Senior Federal Policy Analyst
